GS1 Digital Link QR Codes

The standard format for Digital Product Passport QR codes. StartDPP generates them automatically for every published product.

What is GS1 Digital Link?

GS1 Digital Link is a standard that encodes product identifiers (like GTIN, batch/lot, serial number) into a web URL. When scanned, the QR code resolves to a web page with structured product information — exactly what a DPP needs.

Why it matters for DPP

The EU ESPR regulation recommends GS1 Digital Link as the standard format for DPP QR codes. It ensures:

  • Unique product identification via GTIN
  • Web-resolvable URLs (scan → DPP page)
  • Compatibility with existing barcode infrastructure
  • Support for multiple identifier types (GTIN, batch, serial)
  • Future-proof: extensible for additional data

How StartDPP handles QR codes
